Ghor — Landscapes & Renewal
In Afghanistan’s western highlands, Ghor is a land of rugged mountains, deep valleys and remote communities. Its landscapes hold stories of everyday life, connection to the land and resilience in the face of hardship.
Photographed between 2022 and 2025, these images capture the character of the region and its people, including the aftermath of the devastating floods of May 2024.
After the Floods
In May 2024, devastating floods struck communities across Ghor, damaging homes, infrastructure and livelihoods. In the aftermath, the landscape became a reminder of both the fragility of daily life and the strength required to rebuild.
These photographs document a region shaped by hardship, where recovery unfolds gradually and the determination of communities remains central to the story.
